The Twelve Dates of Christmas 2014: Date 2

The Longfellow house is down the road from us (so cool!) and they were having a Christmas open house. The home is usually closed for winter, but they opened it up for a few days all decked out for the holidays. It was lovely! Job and I wandered the house, then grabbed some hot chocolate and treats before driving to the Messiah sing Job played in. On the way there we read Longfellow's 'I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day' poem, and listened to several versions of the song. It was interesting to learn about the background of the song and why Longfellow wrote it.

The Messiah sing was great, it is such  a wonderful way to hear scriptures of Christ set to glorious music. Handel was inspired. More treats after the concert? Suuuuurrre! Christmas lights thrown in tied the whole night in a pretty bow and placed it under the twelve dates tree.
