Selfish Musings

• I really should finish that mirror project I got you all excited about (you were all excited about it, right? ;)
• My family comes to visit on Saturday, hurray!
• Yoga was harder than it should have been today. I have got to get in shape.
• What can I do today to serve someone else? 
• I want to find a great book to read.
• There have been 6 "I's" and "My's" so far in this post. Self-centered much?!
• I wonder if the missionaries have ever visited this house: (make that 7)

Girls Day

Yesterday a friend and I went out and just wandered around the city doing girly things like shopping, looking at all the pretty Spring blooms, and munching on chocolates and sour patch kids. (I do indeed recognize the fact that these are all things boys can enjoy too. In fact, Job and I have had many dates like this ;)
It was fun just to wander the city with the lovely Emily and enjoy the gorgeous Spring day.

Oldies

I came across these lovelies the other day as I was organizing some pictures. 6 months of bliss at that time. Apparently it only took that long for me to start ignoring basic hygiene rules since I look pretty scary in these. I blame it on full time work at night then full time school during the day. When's a girl supposed to look pretty with a schedule like that? ;)

Anyways, we managed to squeeze in a little recognition for being happily married for 6 whole months. We thought we were hitting the big numbers there. Already an old married couple. And lovin' it :)

Moments from the past: Job-BYU-Idaho Poster Boy

Today I randomly came across these photos that LDS philanthropies took of Job for some posters back in the day (i.e. a few years ago). He will probably hate that I am posting them but they are just too cute not to! ;) He looks just like the BYU-I poster person should, clean cut, happy, talented, diverse, cute, etc...
Gosh, I wonder why I was never asked to model for a poster.....

Juuuusssst kidding. I only went to school so I could marry someone who did ;)

That's right, I married a male model.

Where's Job?

Job is thinking of starting the Job Salazar Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too. There he would teach them that there's more to life than just being really, really, ridiculously good looking. Go get 'em babe.

Spreading the Love

Mondays are Job's reeeaallly long days. The poor man left the house around 5:30 (a.m.!!) and didn't get back until after 10:30p.m. So I have to find ways to entertain myself. Last night I decided it was Valentine making night :) My family always made homemade valentines for each other growing up and we still do even though we are spread out. It is always so fun to get creative, make something unique and special for my siblings and parents, and be able to write them a special little love note :) I didn't have a lot of supplies so I made do with my printer, little pretty paper scraps, tape, and other odds and ends. All of the valentines were little minis this year due to sending them and lack of supplies haha :) Not my most impressive or beautiful ones, but is was a lot of fun to make them and I hope the fam enjoys.
I still need to decide what to do for Job this year. Since Lovers day lands on a Monday this might be problematic (see above). But I have a few little tricks up my sleeve to make it a special couple of days :) I will gladly take any other great suggestions my friends have too! Hit me with the good stuff peeps! :)

And speaking of good stuff, check out this awesome outdoor bookstore a friend and I came across while looking for a yarn shop. Just hanging out there in the ally. It was so cool, I had to snap some pics. (well, I snapped the first one anyways. I am not that good at taking pictures of myself ;)

And because I like pictures in most of my posts :), here is a random one I took a while back. I like these radiators in the old portion of the conservatory where Job attends.

First Few Weeks of December Fun

 Job practiced his little heart out and rocked his juries (the main finals for music majors. You play in front of a bunch of important people who then pick you apart, eeek I think I'd take multiple choice any day ;). His first semester of grad school went better than we could have hoped. We have been very blessed and I am so proud of him :)

 After finals we went with a group of friends to celebrate!! This is at a favorite spot near the school, Woody's Tap and Grill. It has some of the best pizza! We shared a gouda cheese, sausage, and mushroom pizza with a friend and are now hooked. Totally delicious :)


Oh, amidst all this fun I graduated from college with my BSN (bachelors of science in nursing). :) Happy day!! Since it was online this last semester and correspondence from Rexburg I didn't walk or anything but Job made sure to make me feel special for finishing :) I do feel happy that I have successfully finished my undergraduate studies. My experiences in college were some of the most exciting, challenging, and FUN times I have ever had. I will miss it but am excited for new challenges and adventures to come.

 Once we both finished our semesters we finally found time to decorate our little apartment for Christmas. You've got to have cocoa while decorating so I whipped some up for us to begin our festivities :)

 We weren't really planning on decorating much, mostly to keep costs down and such, but my sweet family surprised us and sent a couple of boxes filled with Christmas delight. They are way too good to us :) It made our apartment festive and fun, and we really enjoyed everything they sent.

I didn't know what we would do for a tree this year since we didn't have any decorations (until the packages of course) but then I went into target, saw this little guy, and knew we had a winner ;) I Charlie Browned it up with a tinfoil star, and then filled it up with all the fun decorations that my family sent. Fun story about the decorations, my grandma on my mum's side made/bought them for all her grandkids (50+ grandkids!!!) before she passed away. It is so special to have all the decorations she made and collected over the years.

 Our little tree was very well endowed after I was finished with it :)

 Job was the light guy. He strung little twinkles around our balcony sliding door and we enjoyed the effect.

 Cheery, cheery!

 That stocking is the one I have used my whole life. My sister just reminded me that A patient of my dad's made them for all of us kids back when he has his private practice in California. I remember he was always coming home with cool gifts from patients. All his patients loved him so much :) The fam sent one for Job and I "embroidered" a J on some paper with green thread and then stuck it on. Haha yeah I know, I am very crafty ;)

 The wreath I made at a church relief society activity. It is fresh evergreen boughs so it smelled so nice.

 Our little cocoa cups like to hug ;)

 We wrapped up a few gifts for teachers, friends etc...

And then we were plain tuckered out :D

A Picture is worth a thousand words

I have backed up posts about Job and I's little adventures that I need to catch up on but I couldn't help but post this picture my Auntie sent me today.
It makes me laugh, it makes me tear up just a tad, it makes me remember trips to Disney Land with the fam (yes that is star tours in the background ;), it makes me wonder what I was amazed and so happy about at that moment, and it makes me miss riding on my daddy's shoulders (wow, I have not done that in a loonng time ;).

Pictures sure can say a lot :)
