And I am the last to know...story of my life ;)

One of the bad things about living so far away is that I feel like I am the last to know about things. I mean, come on, it is just as easy to call your family in Boston as it is to call you family in Pocatello right? My family and I are really close so it feels weird to find out about things after the fact. For instance recently I found out late about:

My little sis getting glasses
My little sis breaking her foot and having to sit out her color guard season
My little sis participating in big music competitions
My little sis...O.k. you get the basic idea. And I have a lot of little sisters ;)

So today I checked my e-mail and found THIS from my dear mother:

Just a quick note to let you all know we are having a great time, and getting fat! We have a few hours to explore Nassau, so this note won't be long. Maren is going to be our tour guide. Then we are going to the beach. We love you all and miss you. We wish you could all be with us.

Love, Mom, Maren, Melia and Eliza

What?! This was the first time I heard about my family being in the Bahamas. My mum is totally cool like that and whisks the lucky three girls still at home off on adventures every so often so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. But I was. I called my older sister to check on the details of this adventure, to see if it was some sort of cool homeschool project where they turned their house into the Bahamas and cooked authentic food and learned how to weave baskets, or if they were really there. IN the BAHAMAS. Well they are. They are on a cruise. Without me. And no one told me. Seriously folks, what is up with that?

I took the liberty of googling how far Nassau is from Boston. (O.k. really it is from Boston to Miami, google maps will not let me calculate a driving or walking route to the Bahamas. Hm, go figure)
1,505 miles. That is nothing in my book. I could have been there with them in a matter of hours.
Well, I am getting over the initial shock and am really so happy that they are there enjoying themselves. My mum deserves a break like this more than anyone I know.

That said, I think we can all learn something from this:
Always invite your middle child out of 7 to cruise the Bahamas with you.
