Suprise! It's us, just popping in to say hi.

Job and I devised a little plan to surprise our (his) family on New Years Eve out near Seattle, WA. In case you don't know Job that well, surprise trips are his jam. Mexico last year was a surprise, he surprised me several times when we were dating, he just loves a good surprise. When our surprises will stop being surprising is debatable ;)

So we flew on over the 31st, celebrating our Boston New Year's on the plane, watching the 1 1/2 inch ball drop in New York from our seat back t.v.s, and then did it all over again a few hours later in Seattle. It was a really great way to start the New Year, and the faces of shock we got when we showed up on their doorstep were pretty awesome.

Job's sister, her husband, and 4 kids all live there, and his parents are there for an extended visit. So we had a week of reunion and fun, just relaxing, site-seeing, eating, game playing, getting spoiled etc. Job and I really see the beauty in living so far from family; that way, it is always exciting when you come to visit.

We had planned to fly out Monday, but because of weather in Boston and the Midwest we were delayed several days. Bad for me and work, (luckily they are so flexible and understanding) good for a few extra days of family time. I think Job's mom would have been o.k. if we had been stuck there forever.

So, that's the story of our New Year's trip. I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking. Happy 2014! I feel this every year, but it is just going to be a great one, ya know?! Exciting things will be happening for us in 2014, I can feel it in my toes.

My father-in-law is a great baker, and I am a great taster.
A little jaunt around the neighborhood,
complete with jumping contests.
We got our museum on in Tacoma one evening, with visits to the Tacoma art museum and the museum of glass. I am a sucker for blown glass. It was beautiful!

Playing and singing at a nursing home. These kids have beautiful voices, if I do brag myself. (Like I have anything to do with it ;)
Sammy helping with the Rosca de Reyes for Kings day!
Job and his sister are close in age, and were best friends growing up. I mean, how cute are they!

Here they are, and I love them all.
