A true Boston date night :)

Job took me on a FABULOUS date on Saturday :) It started with a trip to the beautiful Boston Temple. We hadn't been to this one yet and it was a wonderful experience as the temple always is :) We live close by so plan on going back often :)



Later that evening we were able to attend a top-notch concert by Job's violin teacher Markus Placci and an amazing pianist Roxana Bajdechi. They are both absolutely fabulous musicians! The concert was at Steinway Hall here in Boston so was filled with gorgeous pianos! It was a Polish program which was really cool because I don't know much about Polish music and I really enjoyed it. Chopin was Polish and who doesn't love Chopin :)
After the concert there was a wine and cheese reception (minus the wine for us ;). We got to visit with the wonderful artists who are so gracious and kind, enjoy delicious cheeses and fruits, and oogle over the beautiful Steinway pianos.

After the concert we took a walk through Boston Common, a famous park here in Boston. It is so beautiful at night! Everything is lit up with old fashioned lamp posts, there are ducks and swans swimming around in the ponds, and bands playing along the bridge.

Next we walked down Newbury street which is the Champs Elysées of Boston. Tons of high fashion shops and cool restaurants line the street. At the current time we are just observers of Newbury street ;)

Next we stopped at an old church square and listened to an awesome jazz/funk band playing. We think they were Berklee students because Berklee is famous for it's pop/jazz/rock type music.
Then we stopped in Copley Square to check out the beautiful trinity church there.
And to complete a wonderful night, delish late night pizza at Anthony's :)

Side Note: If anyone comes to visit they too can experience wonderful dates like this ;) We are so excited to be able to show people around this beautiful and diverse city :)

Boy's First Haircut (by wife ;)

Job finally let me cut his hair! :) I have been wanting to do it for months (since we have been married actually) but he is....particular about how he has his hair cut so he always went to the same girl back in Rexburg. Well, we are not in Rexburg any longer and his hair was getting out-of-control so I begged some more, played the "we are impoverished college students" card, and he finally gave in ;)
I make it sound bad, but he actually was a really good sport about it :) Thanks honey! I think we will do this more often! Once a month in fact!

O.k., this being my first official haircut (I have trimmed my daddio and Job but never a full blown haircut) I documented each step haha :) Join me on our little hairy adventure...

Job's Birthday

Last week we celebrated Job's birthday, the big 26! :) Gosh I love that man!
We celebrated by going down to Quincy, MA to see the Adams National Park. It is the birthplaces, homes, libraries etc... of John Adams (2nd President of the U.S.) and John Quincy Adams (6th). It was really cool to be in the middle of all the history there. We both really enjoyed it and have a new urge to go see more historical sites around the Boston area.

I thought it was so cool that a rose planted by Abigail Adams is still here!

After the tour around the buildings and gardens we drove around trying to find an outback steakhouse for dinner. No luck. We drove around forever but each address we tried there was no outback left. It is like every outback in MA went out of business! haha we were totally bummed after driving around all evening and so decided to just head home. Then we accidentally took a wrong turn (despite our GPS) and right ahead of us a Texas Roadhouse came into view. Score! :) haha. Job had his heart set on steak for his birthday dinner so we were glad we found it. And it was goooood (Job said it was even better than Outback ;). He has decided he wants to go back every year for his birthday ;)

Vegetarians, avert your eyes ;)

I forgot to take our camera in so here is a picture of our leftovers the next day haha. They don't look as good the next day but just imagine good old ribs, sirloin steak cooked to perfection, prime rib (the best!), veggies, baked potatoes, onion blossom, etc... It was a delicious meal!!

Another thing we did that night was to go buy some furniture for our apartment. We still had wedding gift cards left so we didn't actually end up spending any money. Woohoo I can deal with that ;) It feels good to have a few pieces to add to our apartment too. Nothing in the living room yet but we will work on that slowly.

So happy birthday to my honey :) I think people should have birthdays more than once a year! (The mad hatter had it right ;)

Boston or Bust! :)

It begins.... :) We packed everything we could into our little honda and set off from Utah.

After we stopped the night in Colorado at my mum's cousin's house we realized that we were out of gas big time. The problem was that this cousin's gorgeous house was in the middle of nowhere eek! We were so worried as we set off that morning. I seriously thought we might be putting our roadside assistance insurance to good use but then finally we came upon...
A gas station! Saved by the Frontier! ;)

Oh.My.Goodness. You will have to ask Job about this one for details. Basically a crazy little place in the middle of Kansas. Filled with wonders I might add.

Um....we like limes :D haha


Fixing our car with moleskin and a bandaid. Hey what do you expect from a nurse and a musician? ;) The funny thing is that it is still there weeks later!


We stopped in St. Louis to see a few sites and my Aunt recommended this cathedral. It has the largest collection of mosaics in....somewhere. The U.S. at least. It was beautiful and the whole thing was just covered in gorgeous mosaics. Definitely worth a stop.



We also stayed for part of the noon mass which was cool. Job knows more about Catholicism so he explained a lot of it to me.

The arch! I had been before but Job hadn't so we stopped by. It is such a cool piece of architecture. We were also able to visit the museum underneath it which I hadn't been too. Plus it was the architect Eero Saarinen's 100th birthday so we got free cake! haha can't beat that ;)


This was a cute little town we stopped in for a night. Apparently it is a little tourist town because of the resort, the springs, and the cute covered bridges.


We are getting there!!! The moment I saw Mass I was sooo excited! It had been a loonngg trip :) I have just showed a teeny portion :) And I have to add that my sweet husband drove the whole way. What a stud. Of course I offered to drive but he just always said he was fine and kept going. Awww shucks! He knows I don't like to drive in crazy traffic (i.e. like when we passed through NYC) so he took on the whole 2600 miles. That is love. :)

And we are here folks!! The beautiful city of Boston welcomes us :)
